Milk Memories from the Maltese Islands

PYRAMID CARTONS OF STRAWBERRY MILK AT PRIMARY SCHOOL

As a child at my Primary school, I remember being served with small carton pyramids containing approximately 1 glass of strawberry flavoured milk everyday instead of taking our plastic cup at school as it is done nowadays. The teacher used to cut the tip of the pyramid for us and then drink the milk directly from the pyramids with a straw.  Claudine, Malta

MILK SHOP AT LUQA

There used to be a Milk Shop in Luqa Village, it was situated in St. Joseph's Street. Joe tal-halib used to deliver the milk by bicycle to the local doorsteps. Hector, Malta

HOME MILK DELIVERY

Milk was delivered in glass bottles in Malta. Home owners would come out to a white van and pay for each bottle daily. A silver cap on the bottle meant that it was from a Cow, a gold cap meant it was from a Goat. The logo for the milk was "IL HALIB TAL GVERN". Louis, Canada
