DIVERSIONS TO SCHEDULED BUS ROUTES

Owing to extraordinary happenings, such as, road traffic accidents, major road works, buses have to find alternative ways of getting to their destinations.

In May 1986 repairs were made to the railway viaduct between Wapses Lodge Roundabout and Woldingham Railway Station. Route 453 was extensively diverted between these two points via, Whyteleafe, Warlingham, Chelsham Garage, Slines Oak Road and Slines New Road

This early morning photo shows SNB 366 on the first diverted 453 passing an inquisitive Cow at Slynes Oak and about to climb up the hill to join the main B269 road and turn left and onward back to Chelsham Garage.

This photo shows SNB 365 travelling along Slines New Road in the spring sunshine and passing Halliloo Farm which has since been transformed into The Woldingham Golf Club previously known as Dukes Dene Golf course.

Please note the following diversion which happened many years after the closure of Chelsham Garage. Arriva National Greenay 368 LIL 2168 seen here at Knights Garden Centre, Woldingham while on a lengthy diversion between Warlingham and Botley Hill due to a serious road traffic accident blocking the B269 across Worms Heath, I personally assisted the driver Ron Howland on the Wednesdays only route 411 running from Caterham to Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells via the country lanes via Wapses Lodge, Woldingham Station, Woldingham and The Ridge to regain the booked routing at Botley Hill.  Ron agreed for me to tske this photo. A rare working indeed !
